1) First Gordon Conference on Infectious Diseases of the nervous sytem, 
Hong Kong, 7-12 July, 2013*

Roberto Bruzzone (Hong Kong University - Pasteur Research Centre) and 
Lisa Ng (Singapore Immunology Network) will chair *the first Gordon 
Conference on "Infectious Diseases of the nervous sytem: Pathogenesis 
and worldwide impact" to be held in Hong Kong at the Chinese University, 
7-12 July, 2013.*

As you can see on the web site of the conference

<http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2013&program=infectnerv>), a top 
program has been assembled with an international collection of 
world-leading scientists engaged in research on infectious diseases such 
as cerebral Malaria, Sleeping Sickness, Viral Encephalitis, Bacterial 
Meningitis, Cerebral Tuberculosis, HIV-associated Neurocognitive 
disorders, HTLV1-induced Tropical spastic paraparesis, and rabies.

*Applications and Abstracts for Poster sessions for this meeting must be 
submitted by June 9, 2013. Please apply early, as some meetings become 
oversubscribed (full) before this deadline.

*The format of GRC (community-based, small audience, focus on 
unpublished material) is ideal to create a multidisciplinary dialogue 
that will involve both clinicians and scientists studying disease 
mechanisms and host genetics, the molecular make-up of neurotropic 
infectious agents, and the innate and adaptive immune response to 
neurotropic pathogens. In addition, groups working on developing new 
technologies for diagnosis and prognosis will be included. This new 
series will bring together renowned clinicians and scientists, who 
investigate clinical disease manifestations and the molecular mechanisms 
underlying worldwide infections of the nervous system in humans.
