Hola,

este miércoles 17 a las 11 hrs en el piso 14 del CMat (no me preguntes cómo
se dió así), Helmut Friedrich del Instituto Max Planck de Física
Gravitacional, nos dará una charla sobre el siguiente tema,

Title: Gravitational radiation: the development of the theoretical
background.

Abstract: About 60 years ago researchers realized that a rigorous concept
of
gravitational radiation in Einstein's non-linear theory of gravitation
requires a precise understanding of the large scale structure of the
fields of general relativistic, self-gravitating systems.

The last 30 years saw an enormous progress in the detailed analytical
exploration of the far fields and associated radiation fields of such
systems. Many of these highly technical contributions are in themselves
essentially complete. There are, however, still gaps in our general
understanding.

In this talk I shall outline the present situation and raise basic
questions whose answers should result in a fairly complete overall
picture of the situation.


Helmut es profesor emérito y un destacado matemático que ha estudiado
largamente el tema de la radiación gravitacional a lo largo de su carrera.
