We are soliciting applications from young researchers for the Mary Ellen
Rudin Young Researcher Award. Awarded annually, the award aims to celebrate
Mary Ellen Rudin’s achievements and her legacy by encouraging the
development of young talent in Topology.

The selection committee will begin reviewing applications approximately
July 15 for the sixth winner of this annual award. We hope that you will
help ensure this solicitation reaches all eligible applicants (no more than
three years beyond awarding of Ph.D. and
publishing in Topology).

The previous winners are Logan Hoehn (2013; graduate of Toronto),
Yash Lodha (2014; graduate of Cornell), Yinhe Peng (2015; graduate
of Singapore), Kathryn Mann (2016; graduate of Chicago), the fifth and most
recent winner was Balasz Strenner (2017; graduate of Wisconsin). The winner
will be announced at the annual Spring Topology and Dynamics Conference
2019.

Awarded annually, the winner will receive $10000 to be used as follows:
$5000 in travel support to enable the winner to attend at least three major
conferences in topology; $5000 to support travel and living expenses while
on a visiting appointment at a leading research center. Moreover, the
winner will be invited by both the annual Spring Topology and
Dynamics Conference (STDC) and the annual Summer Conference on Topology and
its Applications (SUMTOPO) to be one of their regularly funded plenary
speakers.

This award is sponsored by Elsevier, publishers for the journal Topology
and its Applications, the annual Spring Topology and Dynamics Conference
(STDC) and the annual Summer Conference on Topology and its Applications
(SUMTOPO).

Applications will involve a letter of nomination, two other letters of
support, a letter from the applicant with a commitment to the award, the
proposed travel plan, and a detailed cv.
