Estimados Colegas / Dear Colleagues,

Since I sent on monday the e-mail informing the deadline for the nomination
of candidates for the UMALCA prize, several persons have tolds us that the
time is too short to collect the recommendations letters and to setup the
appropriate nominations.

We have therefore decide to extend the deadline until March 1st for the
reception of the nominations. This information will appear on the web page
of the event on monday.

The text for the Call for Nominations appear a the end of this e-mail.

PREMIO RECONOCIMIENTO UMALCA

  CONVOCATORIA

El premio de reconocimiento de UMALCA se otorgará en el marco del V
Congreso Latino Americano de Matemáticos (V CLAM)
<http://www.uninorte.edu.co/web/vclam/> a jóvenes matemáticos que hayan
realizado trabajos de excepcional calidad y que se encuentren trabajando de
manera permanente en un país de la región.

El consejo científico del V CLAM tendrá a su cargo la evaluación de los
candidatos y la selección de los ganadores.

Se invita a las sociedades matemáticas, a las instituciones dedicadas a
esta disciplina y a la comunidad matemática en general a proponer
candidatos para este premio. No se aceptarán autonominaciones.

Cada postulación deberá incluir el *curriculum vitae* del postulado y tres
cartas de recomendación de expertos en el tema.

  El consejo científico del CLAM podrá solicitar la opinión de otros
expertos en forma anónima si fuere necesario.

  En ocasión del V CLAM, que se realizará del 11 al 15 de julio de 2016, el
premio se otorgará a hasta cuatro matemáticos que cuenten con no más de 45
años de edad al final de ese año. Las propuestas deben ser enviadas a
Renato Iturriaga renato.itu en gmail.com y a Bernardo Uribe buribe en gmail.com y
serán recibidas hasta el 1º de Marzo de 2016.


UMALCA PRIZES

Open call for nominations.

The UMALCA prize will be awarded at the V CLAM
<http://www.uninorte.edu.co/web/vclam-en/inicio> to young mathematicians
who have excelled in mathematical research and whose permanent address is
in one of the countries of Latin-America and the Caribbean. The scientific
committee of the V CLAM will evaluate the candidates and will award the
prizes.

All mathematical societies and institutions pursuing the development of
mathematics and mathematical community in general are invited to nominate
candidates for the UMALCA prize. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Nominations must include the CV of the candidate and three letters of
recommendation of experts on the area of research of the candidate. The
scientific committee may require the anonymous opinion of other experts in
the area of research of the candidate.

On the occasion of the V CLAM, the UMALCA prize will be awarded up to four
mathematicians who must be 45 years old or younger by the 31st of December
of 2016.

The nominations must be sent to Renato Iturriaga renato.itu en gmail.com and
to Bernardo Uribeburibe en gmail.com no later than the 1st of March of 2016.
