Estimados,

Esta semana visitará Montevideo el Dr. Sean Hill (
http://bluebrain.epfl.ch/people/seanhill), Director Científico del
International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (http://www.incf.org/).

Muchas gracias.

Title:
Big Data and the Brain: Global collaboration in neuroscience

Abstract:
Massive amounts of data about the brain are being generated around the
world. How do we tackle the challenge of organising, searching and
integrating such diverse data to enable large-scale data analysis,
knowledge discovery, modelling and simulation? The International
Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF) was established in 2005,
following a proposal from the Global Science Forum of the OECD to provide
international coordination and collaborative informatics infrastructure for
neuroscience. INCF comprises an international network of national nodes
with neuroinformatics expertise and infrastructure to support collaboration
throughout the global brain research community, initiated by the Global
Science Forum of the OECD. The mission of INCF is to accelerate advances in
understanding and treating the brain through the development of
neuroinformatics - by applying the best practices of data science to
challenges in basic and clinical brain research. Currently, INCF consists
of 18 member countries across North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
INCF partners with international stakeholders to promote and prioritise
neuroinformatics at global, national and local levels. The organization
works to advance data reuse and reproducibility in brain research through
the development of global standards, best practices, tools and
infrastructure. INCF catalyses community-driven collaborative brain
research projects by engaging scientific, clinical, technical, industry and
funding partners. INCF also aims to lead the development and provision of
training and educational resources in neuroinformatics. With the emergence
of large-scale brain initiatives around the world, INCF is well positioned
to serve the global community to enable cooperation, collaboration, data
reuse and sharing.
