On the Vanishing of Self-Extensions


This is joint work with Kosmas Diveris. We study modules with eventually
vanishing self-extensions over symmetric artin

algebras via the Auslander-Reiten quiver. The shapes of the components of
this quiver have strong connections to many

 properties of the algebra. Our goal is to use these shapes to examine
which algebras satisfy the Generalized Auslander-Reiten

Condition.  Recall that a ring R is said to satisfy the Generalized
Auslander-Reiten Condition if the only modules M satisfying

Ext^i(M,M+R)=0 for i>>0 are the projective modules.
