UMALCA is very proud to announce that Dr. Fernando Codá Marques from IMPA,
Brazil, is the winner of the UMALCA Prize 2012. This prize is given every
four years on the occasion of the Congress of Latin American Mathematicians
(CLAM) to
mathematicians of Latin America less than 45 years of age  for outstanding
contributions in Mathematics.
The prize is granted by UMALCA following the decision of the Scientific
Committee of the CLAM,
which is presided by the Scientific Coordinator of UMALCA.
In this opportunity the Committee has appreciated the deep contributions of
Fernando to differential geometry
and his work  solving and yielding results from long date open problems. A

The prize will be received by Fernando Codá Marques during a ceremony in
the CLAM in Cordoba,  august 6-10, 2012.
