We are organizing a Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute (PASI),
titled
"Commutative Algebra and its  Interactions with Algebraic Geometry,
Representation Theory, and Physics",
14th -- 25th May 2012
at CIMAT, Guanajuato, Mexico.

http://www.commalg.org/pasi-2012/

It is aimed at advanced  graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and
junior faculty
in that it strives to disseminate advanced scientific knowledge and to
stimulate
training and cooperation among researchers.

The school is sponsored by NSF and its Mexican counterpart, CONACyT,
and is meant mainly for people in North and South America, though we
might
be able to accommodate participants from elsewhere.

The Institute will run for two weeks, with the first week devoted to five
lecture series:
Luchezar L. Avramov (University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA):
Support varieties for algebras (group algebras, complete intersections)
Osamu Iyama (University of Nagoya, Japan):
Maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules and cluster theory
Graham Leuschke (Syracuse University, USA):
Maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules and non-commutative desingularizations
Ernesto Lupercio (CINVESTAV, Mexico):
Topological (quantum) field theories and Frobenius algebras
Daniel Murfet (University of California, Los Angeles, USA):
Trace formula, Chern character, Fourier-Mukai transforms

The second week will feature for the most part individual lectures.
Please spread the word, especially among your own students and
post-docs.
