Applied and Computacional Mathematics

Dear friend and colleague,

The Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM) has oponed the inscription
period for the first Edition of our BCAM Courses on Applied and
Computational Mathematics.

BCAM provides a limited number of grants for highly qualified students. You
can request the inscription and a grant at acm-courses en bcamath.org.

They are addressed mainly to Graduate students and Post Doctoral researchers,
each of the 11 courses will be taught in one week, and has duration of 10
hours. Teaching language is English, and BCAM will provide certificates to
all the participants.

These courses will also be certified as Continuous Education by the
University if the Basque Country (UPV/EHU, www.ehu.es) and could also by
recognized in the Master and Doctorate Programs.

List of Courses:

   1. Large time asymptotics for evolution problems: convergence to
   equilibrium, functional inequalities and hypocoercivity
   2. Asymptotic analysis
   3. Control problems in quantum mechanics
   4. Mathematical and computational challenges in aeronautics engineering:
   simulation and design
   5. Flow control in the presence of shocks: theory, numerics and
   applications
   6. Delay Equations and Structured Population models
   7. Mathematical Modeling of Communication Networks
   8. Calculus of Variations and applications to Solid Mechanics
   9. Numerical schemes for dispersive equations
   10. Finite Element Methods: Adaptivity, Multiphysics and Parallelization
   11. Schrödinger operators and their spectra

We will hold these courses at our headquarters at the Bizkaia Technology
Park, in Bilbao (find the exact location below), in the 2009-2010 academic
year.
